This is the start of the YA book I have been working on.

Let me know what you think and if there are any changes you would make to it so far. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Prelude - Balance stands on the field of battle, her platinum hair down and swirling around her body, her clothing hangs tattered from the hard fought battle. She gazes at each of the remaining Pillars in turn. The Pillar of Life, his body streaked with the grime of battle, blood on his skin and his clothing, however his power is shifting in a way she does not currently understand. Balance gazes to the empty spot for the Pillar of Death, a great sadness filling her eyes it is hard on all when they lose a Pillar. Her eyes travel to the space held by the Pillar of Order and as always he stands completely clean, as if nothing has happened. Balance’s eyes travel over the Pillar of Chaos, she stands with a smirk on her face and defiance in her eyes. Balance glances to the spot that should be held by the Pillar of War, even though the spot is empty a power radiates there. She glances at the woman kneeling before her without a word, her gaze shifts to the Pillar of Peace, with his white angelic wings, she notices him also staring at the kneeling woman. She then peers at the Pillar of Shadow, even though she has a hard time focusing on him. Then she looks over at the Pillar of Light, and finds her radiance is comforting. She then looks to the Pillar of Tranquility and finds a troubled look upon his face. She then looks sadly to the spot where the Pillar of Madness should stand. She gazes down at her hands, the memory of them taking Madness’ life weighing heavily on Balance’s mind. The Pillar of Ice, she is cold and unreadable as she always is. The Pillar of Fire, he is laid back and open to the world. There are thirteen Pillars that make up the world and control its functioning, but all Pillars must go through Balance and she is responsible for keeping the Fabric of Being in Order. The remaining Pillars stand on the field of battle looking at the carnage around them. Balance looks over the fallen people and Pillars, a great sadness fills her eyes. Her eyes fall on a fiery red haired female kneeling before her. She places her hand on the woman’s head. “You must have been born to be a Pillar. I can feel the energy within you, even though you fought against the forces of Balance. I am appointing you the Pillar of War. The other replacements will show themselves in time. For now none will remember what has happened this day or the tragic circumstances leading to this moment in time.” None question her judgment as each of the gathered Pillars take their place around her, the power shimmers between them as one by one they close their eyes. The power radiates between them and around them one by one the dead bodies vanish, and the world slowly starts to regain its balance and forget.

It has been a while.

I have not been dong much in the way of Writing for a long while. My book was rejected over and over, and I let the little voices take over. However a very bright young man in my life, set down with me tonight and said the simple little words, "Mom you can do it." My almost 17 year old son, sometimes has the wisdom of people three times his age. He looked over the original writing and said look at reworking this and not so much here and post it to a blog and let people tell you what they like and don't like. He then told me a story of another writer that had done it that way and how he is a top seller on Amazon. So I am going to take his Advice, I am going to fix the few things he found and start a blog for the story for people to give feed back to. Laura

Memorial Day

I keep hearing spots on the radio about the family vacation for Memorial Day. I see people buying their things for cook outs, but I see very few flower arrangements leaving the Walmart near me at least.

For those of you that don't know, since it seems to be lost. Memorial Day is a day dedicated to honoring those that have passed on. When I was a child spending the summers with my grandparents, both sets observed this day about the same.

Saturday Morning we would get up and go out into the flower beds and cut and gather all the flowers that still looked nice and at my mom's mothers we laid them out in several piles, each was set up for a different person. Not only did she tend family graves, but also the graves of some children who's family had moved away. We wrapped a wet paper towel around the end of each group and all of us loaded into the car and went to put the flowers on the grave, afterwards if we were good we would stop by dairy queen for ice cream. At my father's mother we would do the same and lay them out in piles, after grandma across the road passed, we added her lost children to the list we mad small arrangements for. Again we loaded into the car and with hers we had a couple of cemeteries to go to, we also had a couple of extra's that we put on the graves of a couple of unnamed babies in the church cemetery.

Sunday after church we would all join at the grandparents house and and have dinner, the adults would play cards or talk the kids would run around the farm but the over all feeling was being thankful for the family we had around us. Never in my life have I considered an expensive trip to the lake or out of town unless it was going home to tend my families graves.

My son turn thirteen this year, I have found out that a local cemetery is providing flags and asking people to come out and place them of the graves of the veterans buried there so this year, he and i are going to place flags on the graves of those that have served our country, if recent storms had not of destroyed my rose bush we would be adding flowers to those that do not have them. I will explain it to him and maybe next year we will have flowers to add to the flags.

Website

Well I have a website sorta, I have been working on it the last couple of days and it is making me even more insane. The writers conference that got me started blogging and moving towards my dream as a published writer is coming around again. I am attending, I am hoping to make some contacts and maybe get an agent at the conference.

First Book Done

Well the first book of the Pillars Series is done, and I am ready to see if it will past the muster. I have a writing conference this coming week where I will present it and see if the agent or publishers there like it as much as the people that have read it. I am so nervous, but it is time to make a leap of faith.

Pillars is a Young Adult Series, it is set in a fantasy setting, there are thirteen pillars that make up the world, twelve of them are opposites, and the main Pillar is Balance, she is to keep the world balanced. This first book is a young woman's quest for answers, she finds them but her eyes are opened wide to the world she must keep in control.

It has been awhile

It has been a while since my last post, the OWFI Writers Conference is just around the corner, as is the end to what has made me put my life on hold the last three years. I am going to this one with a new attitude and outlook. My first book of Pillars, of my Young Adult writing, is now complete and I have three others in the works. My Cloud Dancer's (have not settled on official series title yet), which is an adult series is being revamped drastically, but I love the new layout and I think I will realize the dream of seeing it published soon as well. I am hopeful to find an agent at this conference that will cover all the Genre's I write for, I am also working on short pieces which I will publish on this blog shortly.

A pain I can not describe

Sixteen years ago my mother beat breast cancer, it was a bitter struggle it left her with out one of them and all the nodes on that side removed. We have rejoiced at her apparent recovery. However, the news has come devastating to us, Mother is no longer Cancer free.

The Cancer now resides in her liver, an place it can not be removed, and radiation will not help. She starts chemo next week, This is a secondary tumor, they are unsure where the primary tumor resides. She has many more test to run, right now the prognosis is not good unless they find the primary tumor. Our prayers go up and our spirits lift that God will guide the Doctor's hand and the primary is found.
